| Madrid - Madrid Districts | |||
Hortaleza is a district located northeast of Madrid. Includes the former municipality of Hortaleza and part of Canillas, annexed both to the capital by two decrees of 1949. The Hortaleza district is developed from the core of the old town of Fortaleza, located on the ridge formed by the boundary between the Manzanares and Jarama rivers. The town was watered by rivers and Abroñigal Valdebebas. Its foundation goes back probably to the thirteenth century. In Hortaleza District you will find the following neighborhoods: Palomas, Valdefuentes, Canillas, Pinar del Rey, Apóstol Santiago and Piovera. In the district of Pinar del Rey is the historic old town of Hortaleza. Madrid - Hortaleza photo gallery © Flickr
